Al Held Transcription

This publication is a transcription based off of Karl Fortess’ interview with abstract expressionist painter Al Held. Held was born in the Bronx, 1928. Despite dropping out of school at an early age, Held landed a job as a professor at Yale University. The typography of this publication favors the tone of the interview over the content. The legend shows how I have broken the interview down in to three major themes, highlighting the casualty of the dialogue between Karl Fortess and Al Held. The text falls vertically on the page, reminding us that this is an audio transcription consisting of varying volumes.
